Scott wins the prize......oh those kids

To show a video online...with the streaming equipment and technology we currently possess takes a little bit of time. The feed is initially filmed directly to tape...downloaded to a kickin computer...cut,spliced, reshaped, and then "rendered". From the rendering, it is then taken from that state to encoding where the computer whirls, lights flash, smoke billows and finally a streaming version is ready to upload to our high powered Flash Media Server in California. Yes sir! When you watch a streaming video of 30 minutes, you are seeing about six hours worth of work...not including sermon prep.

So sometimes, things happen. Something slips through the cracks. That happened this past week. Scott wins the prize for finding it out. He was the first to see the whole deal.

It seems certain youth...most remaining completely namless, ventured into the vast, sprawling studio in our unfinished basement and "borrowed" one of those tapes and put together their version of a home made youth oriented movie. Those boys and their friends!

There was wrestling, a kidnapping (both a kid napping and a kidnapping), high drama and low comedy. You should have seen it. Some missed it...but a few caught it. Scott saw it first.

If you watched our stream, then you may have missed it at the end of the webcast....in fact you had to wait and let the stream continue for about 5 minutes before the "raw" footage of the basement drama was captured on tape and shown to the world wide web (a potential audience of 600 million surfers).

Of course, we don't have that number on our site....but hey, it could have happened.

Regardless, if you saw the video and the images alarmed you....there was NO kidnapping (as in the taking of a hostage) but there was a real kid napping (as in sleeping teenager)...teen agers do that a lot. The joyful reunion of the father and the kidnapped son were not father and son...and the low comedy had to be seen to be appreciated.

If you did not see it...then sometimes the funniest things in life pass us by because we don't wait to see the end...

Check out this week's stream....maybe no suprises in the end, but hopefully you enjoy God's Word throughout!

We Love You
John & Susan

PS...Scott, your prize is on it's way! Boy's...please get your own tapes and don't use the streaming tapes. If you do, the next knock on the door by be the FBI!

Several have asked to see it....and I pulled it in extreme horror after finding out it was there....even before seeing it. I have seen the "raw" footage and it is not too bad, although out of context it may generate a visit by the FBI to ensure we don't have unidentified kids in the basement...:) So the answer to the first question is...maybe... the second is not too bad....just a stern talking to and a "encouragement" not to do that again...and Scott get's a gift book series as a way of saying, "THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP". Scott, the books are coming!
