End of Days - Armageddon

Everyday, we hear the word "armageddon" bandied with some other word. "Financial Armageddon", "Nuclear Armageddon", "Economic Armegeddon"...it seems that word is used and overused in so many ways. The Biblical word is not simply a meltdown in the economy, or a battle gone bad. It is the end of all battles, a world war to end all world wars. It will be the end of the GREAT TRIBULATION and will herald in the Glorious Reign of Jesus Christ. What about this war though? What are the elements of the battle...or war that should be known? What is happening

It has been a LONNNNGGG time since I last posted, and a lot has happened. I went full time (by faith) a few weeks ago, just returned from Honduras and am looking forward to the fall @ Radiant Life Church. God has been soooooo faithful, and we seeing transformation in lives every single day. We are preparing for two trips next year. One to Honduras (Construction and small medical) and one to Ecuador (medical only). While these will consume vast amounts of energy in our cosmos, we are preparing to do outreach at every level. Add to that, our relentless search for more permanent facilities and you have the makings for our summer. We will announce details this weekend about the Honduras trip and will hopefully have a great video of clips from my trip last week to show too. We will be working with Jason and Sarah Furrow...two great missionaries that have as much of a heart for thier work as anyone I have ever come to know. It will be a great priviledge to partner with them for the building...and we will be working again with Phil and Deanna Barber in Ecuador. What great missionaries they are too. Hey, why don't you say "yes" to God and go with us to one of these places. It promises to be a great experience and you will never be the same.

Go Figure

We all hear statistics and numbers thrown around and usually don't think anything about them. We quote them without truly understanding the full implications or background, or sometimes even the means from which the stats are compiled. That hit me really hard a few minutes ago. I have heard for years that 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Kind of sobering...troubling and disheartening. Some even use that to enbolden a desire to "get rid of the wife or husband" and find someone new. They will say things like, "well you know, 50% of marriages end in divorce".

That is not necessarily true. According to Focus on the Family, "that figure is derived, not from long-term analysis, but from the fact that the raw number of new divorces each year is roughly 50 percent of the raw number of new marriages. These numbers are distorted by the fact that people with successful marriages usually marry only once, while people with failed marriages have often married and divorced multiple times.

Fortunately, new data from pollster George Barna included a more meaningful statistic. Of all Americans who have ever married, only one-third have ever been divorced. This two-to-one ratio of marital success should encourage young people who may actually fear the "50-50" marriage myth.

Another misconception is that a person's religion and values have nothing to do with marital success. Barna found that the percentage of people who have been divorced after marrying is lower among Catholics, evangelicals and conservatives than it is among non-Christians and liberals. That's not to mention the fact that more born-again Christians (84%) have been married in the first place than atheists and agnostics (65%).

For those just embarking on the adventure of marriage, be encouraged — your chances of making it "until death do you part" may be better than you've been told.

Go figure!

Easter and Bad RAM

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. Incredible past few weeks...incredible busy time. This past Sunday, we celebrated our second Easter service. God has been sending so many people in...and this past weekend was great. We had a snow, sleet, freezing rain mess for our Easter Egg outreach. I kept thinking (at 5 a.m.,6 a.m., 7 a.m....on and on) that we should cancel. Snowing like crazy...so no one will come to an easter egg hunt. What to do with 5,000+ eggs???? Anyway, we had 138 come out...it blew me away.

Then, Easter Sunday, we celebrated resurrection with 141 at our Radiant Life Resurrection Celebration. A record attendance with most of our visitors from the area, no church background. Praise God for those who came out. Several rededications.

Bad RAM...Not able to do anything from home until we figure out if we have bad RAM. Not the animal but the memory in the computer. The computer kept rebooting, without anyone touching the computer...bad RAM or demon possession. I cast those demons out with sledge hammers....probably bad RAM...but I've got my sledge hammer ready.

Oh, we will post the CHASE THE LION series as a podcast once we cast out the demon...hopefully by the end of the weekend. Bad RAM, but a great Lord!!!!!

It's time to make a move

It's amazing the difference one degree makes...one degree on an airplane can take you hundreds of miles off course, if you input the wrong coordinates. The same is true about our walk with God. One degree off, and after a while, we are way off course. On today's podcast, I am sharing from a message @ Radiant Life Church. It is on making a move. Sometimes the moves God wants us to make are not huge...they are small...but even a small course correction can make all the difference in the world.

Happy New Year

The past seven weeks have been a whirl and we thank you for your continued prayers for us and for your understanding. We have had so many that have let us know that they were praying for us and we believe God has sustained us so wonderfully. When dad we last posted, Miracles Believed, Miracles Received, was the last post...and Miracles are what we have experienced. God has provided us peace in the storm, and joy in the journey. One week after our last post, John's dad passed away. It was so unexpected and took the wind out of us. After the funeral, we arrived back for a very hectic schedule. Things are not less busy now, but we believe we are getting a better handle on it all. Beginning next week, we will be sharing challenges with our internet congregation. The challenge starts today for you who read the blog. It is the challenge to read God's Word through in One Year. The challenge is on the right of this blog and you can join us reading God's Word through in one year. It will change your life...and will become a habit...if it is not already a habit...that will bless you the rest of your life.
